Our Algonquin Indigenous Communities
Algonquins have lived in present-day Ontario and Quebec for thousands of years before Europeans arrived. The only Algonquin reservation in Ontario is at Pikwakanagan. During Land Claim Negotiations in the 80s, nine other communities were formed to represent the Algonquin families who had never moved to the reservation when it was setup. Today, the Algonquins of Ontario are comprised of the ten Indigenous Algonquin communities listed below.
